I'm Moving..talk Talk Have Told Me To Return To Bt!!

Im really happy with my Talk Talk Package for Broadband / Evening / weekend calls including international.

No Im moving house in January. I want to take the number with me. Talk Talk say I have to go back to BT to get a line and then transfer the number.
BT have told me I can pay £124 to connect the line, then...if I want up to £70 to get out of a 12 mon contract and go back to talk talk !
Has anyone had this sort of thing happen to them...any advice on the best course of action would be greatly appreciated!!
Ideal scenario would be to stay with a decent broadband / phone package for a similar price - including international calls.

Please help!!

TalkTalk could do this for you, but like the dreadful company they are they choose not to.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

Not sure if this helps but we're with Sky and got letter today to say they are now doing line rental with Sky talk, if you have sky package then broadband and phone is £5 per month plus their line rental is £10/mth...apparently £1.75 cheaper than BT. Never had any problems with broadband or phone.

BT Line rental is £10.50 - DD and paperless.

Sky rip you off for non-inclusive calls.

Only BT are forced to allow you to use cheap call providers.

Sky talk line rental £10 can choose paperless or paper no extra cost

Non inclusive calls charged at 4p/minute

don't know what the cheap call providers means?

    Broadband cost with BT??

    Was only a suggestion though!!!

To qualify for Sky Talk you have to pay at least £204 a year to subscribe to Sky Digital TV.;)

0845 numbers are several times dearer than BT, 0870 numbers are several times dearer than BT, Sky can charge more than the expected BT rate for other numbers.

Cheap call providers are providers of cheap calls, for example you might want to call certain countries cheaply those that which are not covered under any inclusive calls, but instead of paying a tiny price for them from a cheap calls provider, you are forced to pay Sky's Sky high prices. You might want to call UK mobiles cheaply.

Sadly there are a lot of people who for years are used to just paying one provider and don't realise the real money saving is using cheap call providers for certain calls. This is why they think the few pennies saved on Sky is worth it, even though they could be saving many pounds on phone costs.

I take it you are only moving up the road and not too far away as even with BT, you may find you can't keep the number as you move into a different exchange area.

  • Hi,

I am faced with the same situation but I notice on Talk Talk's website it says you can keep your line rental with BT and just pay for your calls from Talk Talk. I am going to ring them tomorrow and tell them I want my line rental to return to BT, keep the bundled calls and broadband package (approx £19 per month), then use override providers for calls.

Wish me luck - let me know if you have any success too!
