Tariff details are here, in relation to the OP I'm wrong anyway as small print says you need a BT line to begin with.
In relation to Sky it seems if you pay £5 extra/mth for Sky talk unlimited then all calls are free including to 20 international countries. 087 numbers are either 6p or 10p/min from what I can see (don't quote me though it's late!!!)

To qualify for Sky Talk you have to pay at least £204 a year to subscribe to Sky Digital TV.;)

Ah yes that would be why I said "if you have sky"!;)

0845 numbers are several times dearer than BT, 0870 numbers are several times dearer than BT, Sky can charge more than the expected BT rate for other numbers.

Cheap call providers are providers of cheap calls, for example you might want to call certain countries cheaply those that which are not covered under any inclusive calls, but instead of paying a tiny price for them from a cheap calls provider, you are forced to pay Sky's Sky high prices. You might want to call UK mobiles cheaply.

Sadly there are a lot of people who for years are used to just paying one provider and don't realise the real money saving is using cheap call providers for certain calls. This is why they think the few pennies saved on Sky is worth it, even though they could be saving many pounds on phone costs.

Understand now what you mean by cheap call providers, for us it was more a case of realising that since we don't make overseas calls and would rarely ring a 087 or similar number and already had Sky TV then we were much better off having the whole package with Sky, costing £5/mth, rather than seperate phone and broadband charges.

If you can stop yourself calling mobiles etc and only call during the inclusive times and to inclusive destinations, then yeah I suppose it is worth it as there's not really much more saving to be had, it's only if you break away from this you find it would be cheaper elsewhere, depends on how good you are at only calling the inclusive destinations.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

You can still get cheap intl and ngn calls on Sky at the moment by using the likes of 18185 and 0844 access numbers.

    I'm very good!!!:p
I use my free mobile minutes to call other mobiles and since all UK calls are covered in Skys plan for evening and weekend calls, which is when we're in the house and most likely to call using home phone, then its def the cheapest plan~for us!! Plus I couldn't find anybody who provided cheaper broadband...though I'm open to suggestions!;)

    Hi,

I am faced with the same situation but I notice on Talk Talk's website it says you can keep your line rental with BT and just pay for your calls from Talk Talk. I am going to ring them tomorrow and tell them I want my line rental to return to BT, keep the bundled calls and broadband package (approx £19 per month), then use override providers for calls.

Wish me luck - let me know if you have any success too!

If you want broadband and calls from them you have to take their line rental.

You can have calls only http://www.talktalk.co.uk/products/landline/line-rental but you can get these call bundles cheaper elsewhere.
