Didnt you have a problem with him falling out the bed??
My DD is 10.5 months, she is standing in her cot and trys to climb out but cant yet. She has a toddler bed already in her room but wasnt planning on putting her in it for ages yet as I am worried she will hurt herself.2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -

I've worked with disabled kids where we put a folded quilt on the floor by their bedside as a precaution? The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
I have been looking for a cheap cot as well....cheapest one I have found so far, is at John Lewis for £60. If use one of the discount vouchers (do a search on this website) u can get it for about £54, incl delivery. Cot is called Winnipeg.

The toddler beds are so close to the ground they just slide gently onto the floor if they're going to fall out ... both mine used one and like Js_Other_Half, we put a quilt on the floor for them to fall on... they never did.0 -

I sat her on it today to see what she thought of it. She sat on it for a while, then got on her knees and jumped up and down on it for a while..... she then promptly crawled right off the side and whacked her head on the leg.... lots of screaming and a big bruise!
Think I may leave her in the cot for a while longer2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -
I used a guard rail on mine when they moved into beds and they never fell out.
I've had both cot and cot-bed. The eldest was out of the cot before he was 2. Youngest who is smaller and not as lively had her cot-bed changed into bed when she was about 2.5. The cot-bed had adjustable heights, very convenient for me when I first had her, due to c-section and not being able to bend far. Now its been turned into a bed and is higher off ground is very convenient for storing toys underneath.
A cot and cot bedding is a cheaper initial cost but within 2 years I needed a single bed and bedding.
A cot-bed and the bedding has been more expensive and has delayed the purchase of a single bed plus bedding but ultimately I will still need one, probably when she's about 5.
So over 2 years a cot bed has been the cheaper option.
Over 5 years a cot then a single bed will work out cheaper0 -

No - I can't recall him falling out.
In the cot I was forever finding him uncovered and with legs sticking through the bars! He settled in a bed better and didn't move around at all. No idea why though. Here I go again on my own....0 -

OH and i have been looking as we would like to hear the patter of tiny feet....best we have seen is on e-bay.
So many things, barely used - particularly for kids/babies.
Hope this helps

How much did we over spend whilst on maternity leave :mad:0 -
I have just emailed Kiddicare to get my form mattress changed to a sprung mattress.
has anyone any experience with this? its a preorder so its not even been sent out yet...:A Boots Tart :A0 -
Sorry if this seems a daft question, but i've read on here that people use the same cot/bed for their child but buy a new mattress, even between siblings.
What are the reasons for this, I presume a safety thing?
My SIL has just given me their cot with mattress and a zip up mattress protector but I don't know if to use the mattress or not. Surely any baby I have, won't be in danger from using my neices bedding, especially if the mattress protector is washed at 60 deg first?
Cheers
