my washing machine has been causing probs on certain spin cycles and we keep having a power cut, i can use it but only on certain washes if i avoid the spin cycle 7, the washing machine man cant come out till next wednesday, so i have managed successfully to keep up to date with my washing. however today my daughter moved the knob on the machine while on the working cycle.
My son was watching something on sky plus, and we had another powercut, now sky shows what is on, sky plus shows what is saved, everything plays but the screen remains blue with no sound. on the menu screen there is also no music. can anyone give a short term solution before my husband comes home from the pub ? ? tried norm switching off etc. has this happened to anyone else ? ?

With regards to the Sky problem, have you actually unplugged it as opposed to just turning it off on the box ? This usually works on my normal Sky box, you might lose the saved stuff though.0

You'll find all kinds of support for Sky and Sky + on this site:

There is a way of resetting the system. I will have a scout around and come back with an edit.
Edit: OK Try this one:
Try a forced software update.
1. Power off
2. Hold backup button on the box (Not remote)
3. Switch on whilst still holding backup.
4. When message appears release backup button
5. Wait for box to reboot.
If that doesn't work, try this one. It's a hidden installation trick.
Select Services button on remote.
Select 4, then 0, then 1, then select. This will reveal a hidden menu. try the Sky Planner rebuild first and if that still doesn't work, try the full system reset, however this last one will delete all programmes in the planner - beware.0 -

Heres how you check your hard drive as posted on DIGITALSPY for pace skyplus boxes.
Here is what PACE say:
1. Disconnect from mains.
2. Press left and right arrow keys on front of receiver (on right of box).
3. Reconnect mains while holding down arrow keys.
4. Keep pressed until green circle leds light.
5. Release left/right buttons.
6. Press select.
7. The green circle led's rotate anticlockwise approx 20 times.
8. Green led go out.
9. If the green play led lights then HHD format is good
10. If red lights the format is not good and hard drive is faulty.sometimes you're the pigeon, sometimes you're the statue!0
