Gas Direct Debits - a question

I watched GMTV with interest this morning regarding the gas direct debit. Last week I had my quarterly bill from a recent meter reading. (I do pay my direct debit monthly). I was £120 in credit. I called to ask them to pay the money back into my account and I was advised if they did that they would have to increase my monthly payment. Up until October I was paying £29 a month and they then increased it to £40 which has also increased the credit. I was advised that I should actually be paying £47 but they won't be increasing it to that for some reason, but if I took the credit it would increase to about £57 a month. I was told as I was on the budget contract (or something to that effect) I was advised that the costs were calculated on last years consumption. I am really confused and would really like some advice as if I could get the money back without increasing my monthly payment that would be great.

get the money back then cancel the dd...

or leave the DD and ring your bank demanding the DDR's be paid back as they wont give it to you and under the dd scheme they have to! so thats 4 months of DDR's.

4 months later they will increase your dd HA!

I was leaving npower but they messed me around so I got my bank to credit my accout with 160 worth of dd's then got a cheque(2 weeks later) for 150 of npower but didn't cash it they can chase me for the 10 quid !(4 months later...)

    :)
