We just had a beautiful oak front door fitted but it needs to be stained/varnished/waxed, you know what I mean. The door is under a porch so it doesn't get wet when it rains.
Can anyone recommend what I should use? I aksed the carpenter but he didn't really give me an answer? He said he can put me in touch with a professional decorator friend of his  errr... thanks, but I am sure I can do it myself

I prefer Danish oil on exterior doors, it needs re applying every year but is easy to apply and protects the wood better.0

Another Danish Oil fan.
Varnish tends to peel, eventually, so in terms of maintenance, it seems little different to paint to me.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
Thank You, that's a great idea.0
