Piping music through the house

I'm hopefully moving soon and thought before i decorated the new house i might install one of these "through the house music" systems like you sometimes see in showhouses. Any ideas on where to start ? Each room seems to have speakers in the ceiling and a volume control on the wall.

Agree, avforums is a good (probably the best) place for independent advice on this.

It's brilliant to have one of these, but I wouldn't exactly call it a money saving exercise to have one of these installed! Ours was £10K+ four years ago, for muzzak (CD, radio, TV) in seven rooms. A large part of this was installation since you need to lay wires everywhere - though I gather there are some wireless ones now that work without too many problems. The two controllers we need for our installation both packed up recently (some circuit melt) - the repair bill was £760

We still absolutely love the system (it's a SystemLine, btw) and you can get better value for money now than we got four years ago, but it definitely still comes in the 'luxuries' category. We got great advice from Audio-T and bought from them eventually. They were also the folks who sorted the required repairs recently - and even though the purchase and repair bills were frightful, I can only recommend Audio-T, they were excellent.
