How can this happen?

I have an item for sale. One person has bidded with 0 feedback and have put in 10 bids at 0.99P  So when you bid, how comes you can bid 10 times for the same amount

Only when someone bids more than his maximum, or the auction is finished.
  • I think your bidder is confused too - they are probably wondering why their highest bid isn't showing so they keep upping it.

To be honest i think it's from the person who i'm trying to stop conning others. I think one of the newbie bidders that was one of the first to bid on an empty box, was probably him trying to encourage bids, i warned them by contacting, and if it was him, he's probably trying to ruin my item.

If they have made that many bids, doesn't this leave the door open for an unscrupilous seller to artificially raise the price?

99p plus an extra 9 increments is what, about £2.65 if they have only bid the minimum amount.

You can't raise the price once a bid has been made. I've put in my description i won't sell to those with less then 10 feedback. So he won't get it anyway.
  • so why not cancel his bids and block him from bidding on your items, that way you know your auction wont be compromised by him.....unless he re registers under another name ...so block all bidders with feedback less than 10 :D

You cannot block bidders with positive feedback. The only option on seller preferences is to block bidders with less than zero feedback.
