Private Parking Enforcement - code of practice

I have not seen if anyone has posted this before.

The British Parking Association (BPA) has a Code of Practice for issue of
private parking tickets. Here is the link (or google the sentence)

https://www.britishparking.co.uk/includes/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/ filemanager/files/resources/code_of_practice_part_2.pdf

For real enthusiasts, Parkex is the exhibition in April at NEC Birmingham for all things parking and enforcement. Visiting is Free. It is quite entertaining. A lot of the companies that enforce parking will be represented. To be fair, they are often receptive to motorists views. hence the code of practice.

This year it is doubling with Roadex which is all about road construction and barriers.

Would love to go and poke fun at them that they're in fact legally unenforceable, but they'd poke fun back as they'll have more money in their wallets than I do. Lol.

The BPA is just a trade association.

What the PPCs should, in fact, be adhering to is the law, and in particular the new consumer regulations.

Which most of their members then promptly ignore - such as writing letters saying that "the registered keeper is responsible for payment", which is clearly a load of aged bovine excrement.

:rotfl: ^^This has to be the best laugh of the week. Which PPC do you work for, Bob?

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.
  • About as much relevance as the Civil Enforcement website. http://www.civilenforcementnow.com/
    (check dates)
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Hi bargepole.

Nope, I don't work for any PPCs or any part of that industry. I occasionally liase with BPA and various clampers and associated bodies in a professional capacity.
