Kitchen - install only

Hiya

is this fair?....

install 2 base and 3 mounted units
install extractor fan (doesnt link to outside, has removable filter pads)
install worktops
tidy up woodwork round window area/back of sink

been quoted £300

on top of that we have to -
fit and plumb sink
install appliances: dishwasher, washing machine, oven and ceramic hob
fit a new light
which will be extra cost. any ideas what a fair price for that would be?
we're in scotland.

finally - we're not sure about the guys qualifications, he was recommended a friend of a friend type thing. would u just go with him or should we check him out thoroughly?

many thanks :-)

  • Seems a good price to me. Its only 5 units and the worktop is a stright run i presume - no corners? How will the electrical connection be made to the fan? What about all the appliances have they got sockets near?

    thanks, we're in Glasgow

we've got the full quote including appliances now comes in at £700. we thought it seemed a bit steep as we're doing a lot of the work oursevles, e.g. collecting & building the units. all we really need done is appliances fitted and cupboards/worktops put in. then again i'm a total novice at this!

Yep thats right, the worktops are straight. There is a high up plug that the current fan is plugged into, so am thinking the new one will just plug in there too?

There are sockets for the appliances - the oven plugs in, washing machine has a socket ok, not sure about the dishwasher as we never had one before..... (its going to be such a joy not washing dishes anymore )
