Perfume Advice

Hi Guys,

I want to buy my assistant some perfume for Christmas. I know she like Chanel No 5 but the price of that is a little more than I wanted to pay ( ).

Are there any No 5 wearers out there - can you suggest something else that she might like?

Many thanks in advance.

    Does she smell bad then?
Who I am is not important. What I do is.
  • Hi There,
Can you give me an idea of her age, that gives us a bit more to go on?

I'm not a Chanel fan but do they do something cheaper in the range like they do with most perfumes? Like body lotion, shower gel or talc or handcream?
  • She's 28 and like Virgin Vie cosmetics and Chanel No 5!

I really want to get her perfume - she was moaning the other day that she has nearly run out and it is one of those things that she refuses to buy herself.

Wouldn't mind getting a gift set...£25-£30 is roughly my price range.

I'm just a bit younger than that and always switch my perfumes...but I've never ever had as many compliments as I do when I wear 'DKNY Night' - round bottle, purple colour. I do training at night in o2 and I've lost count of the amount of people who had been mid question then stopped and said 'oo what perfume is that??'

Or, if I remember correctly I got my friend a set from the Body Shop once and it was 'make your own perfume', a little set of 8? bottles that you could mix and match just by spraying on you for a different perfume every day.

i think it's lovely that you're making that much effort to buy something she'll like!!

i also just had a look at prices and i'm shocked at how much it costs!! i never realised the price difference for chanel was that high! the cheapest i can find on the boots website is the eau the parfum spray at 35ml for £38.17. i'd go to a department store and take advice.... or get her a set of miniatures from a few perfumes - at least one of them has to be to her taste!

If you are looking for a gift set containing different perfumes for her to try, have you seen these Vivaboxes:

    www.theperfumeshop.com/fcp/product/Vivaboxes/Womens/Womens-Fragrance-Selection-Vivabox/3801

Each gift set comes with a voucher to exchange for a full size bottle of the perfume of the recipient's choice once they have tried them and found their favourite.

The first box containing 10 samples is just the right price, though the one containing five luxury perfumes is a bit over your stated limit

  • violetta - what a wonderful idea those vivaboxes are - the recipient gets the 5 small bottles and then chooses their favourite and exchanges the voucher for a full-size :T ingenious :T

melancholly - I know what you mean about chanel

I did ask in Boots yesterday but the sales assistant just kept showing me more chanel...I think she missed my point  so I smiled politely and thought 'I know where I can find some luvverley ladies to help me' :D

hieveryone - DKNY noted but possibly more for myself ;)

Totally off topic (sorry MFD) but my Mum still hasn't forgiven me for playing with her No 5 when I was a kid - I left the top off and it evapourated!
