A couple of weeks ago, me and my partner were new to this site so we listed all our monthly expenses to she where we could cut back. Well after reading some of the replies and some other threads on the site, I thought it would be a good idea to give an update of what is going on and the savings we have made after a little hard work!!

Gas/Elec - was £42 now £31
Sky - was £21 now £15
Mortgage payment protection - was £20 now £12
Life & Critical Illness - was £24 now £12
Contents - was £19 now £8
Car insurance - was £110 now £80
Phone - was £20 now £11
Gap Insurance (car) - was £25 now £6
Payment protection (car) - was £20 now £7
Loan - was £180 now £155

So after a couple of weeks and some help from all the great people on this website that is a saving of about £140 a month and an amazing £1700 a year

LOL. Good for you. It'll be a great booster to people knowing how much it's possible to cut things by. Alot of your bills have been halved.

Hi donna-dan,

I will be posting my soa this evening, can't wait!

Will be intersting to see the expert views of mse - ers. I frequently look at our direct debits, then lose all will to live, and put all our paperwork back again. I just look, but don't act!

Daddyto3- don't despair, I was like that but I have saved a fortune. This site has given me much more confidence to deal with things. I do have moments of great despair, but when I add up all the savings I have made (cancelled PPI, telephone, electric,gas,car insurance,shopping etc) I sleep much better.

I have to say I found it difficult at first as its much easier to bury your head in the sand, but it does get easier.

Oh and yes we have just started to cut down our shopping bill, it has gone from £25 and week down to £15 which for 2 people it aint bad :-). Now hopefully we will have enough money so donna can learn to drive!!!!
