Is this bodyshop quote reasonable?

Hi,

I’ve been quoted £460 to repair a light scrape/crease on a Peugeot 206 5dr that stretches across 2 doors (off side), spray the 2 doors and blend in with the front and rear quarter panel.

The colours metallic green and price includes £300 labour, £140 paint and materials and £20 for a new rear door moulding. Does that sound reasonable?

Thanks

That's roughly £100 more than what my son paid for a similar repair to his metallic painted car. He used a small local garage and the result was perfect. Shop around a bit. (although it'll depend on how badly the car is scraped)

  • Thanks for quick replies!

His work is very good, he had a Ferrari 360 waiting to be collected thats just had the stone chipped front end sprayed and a string of Audi’s that he does for a well known nearby Audi specialist.

if you trust him then go with that , its not overpriced and by the amount of bodge jobs i hear about its not worth trying to squeeze a few quid off and risk a bad job

could ask if theres any discount for cash though

I presume he know it's not an insurance job, might be worth reiterating that and asking him if there is any room for manoevre. However if he is busy I doubt he will shift much.

sounds fair as they will have to spray some of the 1/4 panel and wing to make it look right
ask them how much for cash

  • He knows its a private job. I'll stress its cash.

    Thanks again.

Takes a bit of time if there's a bit of a crease in to get it looking right. If it were just a paint scrape, I'd say it was a little overpriced but not excessively so.
