Not received item after a fortnight

We bought a bed guard from a 100% feedback seller and was quite happy to part with £15 to them rather than to toys r us etc. We bought the item on the 2nd December and as of yet we haven't received it. We emailed the seller a few days back to enquire as to where our item was and got a bit of a snotty reply saying 'look at the listing and it states you have to allow me up to seven days to post, i'm sorry if you think it's unreasonabe that it takes a week to get to the Post Office' Okay, had a look again at the listing but couldn't see any wording to that effect. Got back in touch with seller who double-checked herself and agreed it wasn't there but that i should have looked at her other items sold and i would have seen it......Er, okay but it's not really down to me to go through her other items to verify any postage terms but hey ho. Anyway she explained that it isn't easy to get to PO next day etc and i agreed, but she posted the item on the 10th December, eight days afetr i bought it.
Anyway, as of today, still no item and i've emailed again saying the item still not received so should i open and 'item not received' dispute as it's now two weeks since i bought the blasted thing?
And my other dilema now is what to do re feedback. She's a 100% seller with about 500 stars. What do i do? I don't want to leave a negative, it'll knock her 100% down, but i haven't had a positive experience either. Leaving a neutral is best option but she hasn't been particularly helpful, hasn't emailed me back to ask whether we did indeed get our item.
Maybe i'm just being impatient..........
What would you do?
(by the way i know there are more important things going on around the world and this hardly a disaster by any measure before i get any PM's to that effect....)

I don't know what is wrong with some sellers (I'm talking as a seller) but regardless of the complaint I apologise for whatever they are complaining about. It costs nothing and hopefully keeps buyer onside especially if I or post etc have co cked up. I have rescued a couple of real howlers where I would have possibly given myself a neg....:D
Leave it a couple of days and see if it arrives (didn't post until day 8). Then stick in a claim. Once it is sorted out leave it a day or so and then leave feedback.
Personally I would be hard pressed to leave a +ve, especially with snappy curt emails.0 -
Hi Rhysdad,
Yes it can be a pain trekking down to the post office sometimes, especially if you have listed a lot of items and people are paying in dribs and drab – but hey, that’s part and parcel of selling on Ebay and if you want to keep up 100% feedback then you need to keep up your service levels.
As a buyer, I think you’ve been extremely patient. I don’t think you should have had to wait that long for them to have posted out your item and it’s certainly not your responsibility to check every item they’ve listed in case some of them state a postage turnaround time. It’s a bit like when some sellers state in their listings that they cannot be held responsible for items lost in the post when we all know that if you’ve paid by paypal then they are.
It would appear that you have given them a good amount of time to post the item out and have tried to keep lines of communication open in a friendly manner. The fact is their service levels have been poor, you have paid for an item, waited a reasonable time period and have not received it, have tried to contact the seller and have had a less than helpful reply.
My advice would be (if you have paid via paypal) to open an item not received dispute. This will give the seller a bit of a nudge to get their act together and safeguard your payment in the event that the item has been lost in the post. With regards to feedback, you haven’t had a pleasant experience and if it was me I would leave a negative. It shouldn’t matter if the seller has 100% positive feedback for 6 transactions or over 500, a bad experience is a bad experience.
Hope this is of some help and I do hope you receive your item soon0 -
Sellers should be expected to post items within a reasonable time - I would say 7 days is pushing that reasonableness and certainly any longer is unacceptable (bet your seller would be quick enough to hastle you if you didn't pay for 7 days).
Need to except that the post can take a while at this time of year, but check the date it was posted when it arrives.
Assuming the item is ok, a neg would seem over the top, but personally, I would leave neutral with low scores for postage time and a comment to that effect.
If it does not turn up tomorrow, I would probably raise a non-receipt claim in paypal, just in case it slipped their mind to post it !0 -

I'm peeved because i could have bought the wretched thing from Argos etc for another fiver or so and saved the aggro! We try to support the smaller guys and try to re-use instead of just buying new but we wanted to get our toddler used to no sides on his cot before Christmas...No hope now though! I think a neg comment is over the top but a neutral is well deserved in this case. Ta for the reply.0 -
Business sellers should dispatch within 72hrs max, imo. Private sellers I'm happy to give longer, the full 7 days permitted is perfectly acceptable me.
Normally I would suggest giving it 3 weeks, as everything almost always turns up (speaking as a PS). But the poor emails detract from this somewhat. It's your call, but I would suggest waiting longer, as although snotty they have replied which sort of implies its been sent. Again this is why I always suggest up on any not received message, email them a copy of the POP- doing this plus absolutely politeness and reassurance gives me three weeks almost every time.0 -

I'll give it longer. Post can be slower given time of year but just want my wretched bed guard!! I'm not out to cause trouble for Ebay sellers, Ebay do enough of that anyway thank you very much!
I wait folornly...............0 -
An item I just bought on ebay was posted on the 8th as the seller stated and only turned up yesterday, a week later. That's the Christmas post for you.
I'm certainly not condoning the seller's attitude or dispatch time though, just agreeing that you should give it a few more days before escalating the dispute.0 -
I brought an item on the 6th, seller said he posted on 9th still no sign & it is only envelope size.Emailed seller several times, his response is it was sent with free P&P 1st class not his problem. Obviously as ive not received it im the one out of pocket, only £7 but hey £7 is £7 in my eyes. He does have 100% and his attitude was, you can see im a trustworthy seller because I have 600+ feedback, not disputing that but when I asked for proof of posting to claim against the PO he never responded.
Im filling a complaint with Paypal tomorrow, see what happens from there. He isnt even bothered to email me back - would have claimed through the PO, not now, going to Paypal to open a dispute.
I dont understand why sellers do have attitudes, I like the other person apologise if any probs, always get proof of posting (a little more hassle but at least you have it)and always do what I can to help the buyer if a problem...
anyway, does put you off ebay purchases, I can sympathise with the original poster.
Hope it gets sorted.0 -
Who cares if you knock her rating down...
The fact is that you paid for an item that you have not received. It sounds like you have been more than patient and quite reasonable. I wouldn't even think twice about leaving a negative feedback.
Why the dead link? Explain yourself please because I'm assuming you're cookie stuffing. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
