High Fashion Kitchens

Just been quoted £9300 for a complete kitchen, including installation and some applicances...it's a big kitchen, so the price sounds reasonable but I just wanted to see if anybody out there has got any experience of this company. I'd never heard of them, but the salesman told me they supply kitchens to John Lewis, which sounds a good recommendation

Yes I love the fact that is "sounds a good recommendation".
Ring John Lewis Head Office up and ask them if that statement is true or visit a big JL kitchen dept like in Bluewater etc and ask them.
Also ask them for 3 previous customers you can contact; ask for confirmation of who the fitters will be and details of their last 2 jobs so you can contact them prior to fitting. If the quote is good great but the fitters might be dreadful and the whole thing could land on its nose.
Ensure EVERY matter you have discussed is written onto the contract eg: Lights to be replaced on ceiling, 3 new double powerpoints to be installed etc otherwise they can state they did not agree to it.
You can also check with companies house they are who they say they are - ad states they have been in business 30 years but needs confirming. Also they guarantee their stuff for 10 years - what happens if they go bankrupt ? - is that their personal guarantee or is it with a third party? Look on BBC Watchdog for listings of doddgy dealers and also search on the web for sites relating to the company.
If you do go with them ensure you are there during the day while they fit it if at all possible. I know its a pain but I am constantly hearing "they put the drawers in the wrong place while I was out". And on the day the fitters arrive first thing get the plan out and run through with them what is happening. £9300 is a lot of money but it could be worth it for a lovely kitchen - always imagine if it takes 5 days to fit every day is costing you nearly £2000 and that takes a long time to earn....

Rather than John Lewis the department store, they possibly mean these people: http://www.john-lewis.co.uk/
Can't tell you anything else about kitchens though I'm afraid.0 -
thanks a lot to both of you - and jandanjan, those are great tips - I'm going to follow them all up!0
