Hi all -
I'd really appreciate your advice, as I have a bit of a problem!!!
You may all remember the programme on telly "I'd do anything" to find a Nancy for the west end production of Oliver! I bought tickets on the 18th May last year for a friends birthday, this was before the tv show had finished. My tickets are for this Wednesday night the 17th December. I have been online looking up reviews to see what other people think and I found out today that on the Wednesay and Thursday performances the Nancy that was picked on the TV programme will not be in the show.
I was soooooo annoyed as this is the reason I booked tickets to see the show, because we'd followed the TV programme. I booked the tickets with seeticket.com and I rang them today to complain and see what they could do. The said they couldn't and wouldn't do anything, and they claim the information about the chosen Nancy's scedeule was on the website from booking started that she wouldnt be doing the midweek performances. And, they said they especially wouldnt do anyting as I had left it so late to complain.
Well, the fact they said that it was clearly on the booking site from the beginning that the chosen Nancy wouldnt be performing midweek I SIMPLY DO NOT BELIEVE. I spent £100 on two tickets and I was on the website ages trying to get the best seats and I never once saw that statement. And when I googled the issue there are some archived newspaper articles from the 1st June reporting that the chosen Nancy would only be doing 6 shows a week. So I fully believe that when I booked on the 16th May this fact was not known or made public. And as for me leaving it so late to complain - I only found out today!!!!!
Soooooo - apparently - their customer services are ringing me tomorrow (Tues 16th).
Basically I'd love to know what other people think and where I stand. I do feel really annoyed about this , especially because it was a present for a good friend and I wanted it to be perfect.
Cheers all

I suppose technically it's not as described if you were led to believe that the winner of the show would be preforming.
Personally though, I'd just go and have a good time.If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!0 -
There will be a booking clause stating that they can swap out any of the actors - don't think you stand much hope, especially if the information is on the site. Ignorance is never a good mitigating factor.0

When booking these kind of things, you're booking a show.
It probably won't make alot of difference. As the other poster says, just go and enjoy yourself.
It you turn up with the thought that you're going to be dissatisfied because the lead you want isn't performing, it will probably be a self fulfilling prophecy.
By all means try, however if they won't refund, just go and enjoy yourself.
It's likely the info was on the website, after all, these actors are very unlikely to working 7 days a week0 -
Does it say on your ticket that the fat one from the TV show will be performing for that particular show?
If yes, then I suppose you could get a refund/exchange because they're not as described. If it doesn't specifically say it's the fat one from the TV show, then I think it might be rather difficult.
I'd just go along and enjoy the show anyway.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I think tickets for musicals are always based on the fact that actors may change, simply because they do, all the time.
Also, the character of Nancy isn't a lead part anyway. I don't think you have any regress.
You will have a fabulous time, go and enjoy, whoever is playing that part. Surely it's Oliver, Fagin and Artful Dodger who make the musical anyway?0 -
Any theatre with a 'star' in any role will not refund tickets bought jsut becuase the purchaser wanted to see that 'star' for the simply reason that the 'star' is human and is liable to be ill or - even worse - die unxpectedly.
I have purchased tickets to go and see Connie Fisher when she tours in the Sound of Music next year and the web site clearly states that she will not be appearing in certain performances but I know that there is always a chance that she might not appear for reasons beyond anyone's control.2014 Target;

wouldn't that only narrow it down to a select number of contestants?
personally I'd rather have my head nailed to a table.
if I had to choose of course.Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -

It certainly would be tragic if most of these celebrity types died unexpectedly.
so tragic...Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0
