ive been checking www.megatrain.co.uk but am not able to see what routes go by train etc.....its pretty confusing
  • If you are planning on going to London you need to go via National Express East Coast. Arriva Cross Country do services to Sheffield from Edinburgh (don't go any further north I am afraid!) and Transpennine Express also do Edinburgh to Manchester.

To get cheap tickets you need to book in advance and these websites are your best bet...

As a PP has already told you if you are travelling with children you will save a lot of money by investing in a Family and Friends Railcard - it costs £24 but is valid for a year and offers great discounts.

yup...they are quite exensive...want the cheapest possible lol

    Hey, thnx for looking tho
  • Remember to check single fares too - sometimes you can get major bargains booking two single tickets rather than a return.

Me and my daughter are travelling to London in February and using single tickets means the total ticket price for both of us was £25!

Cross Country do Dundee - Sheffield. Don't know if it is the cheapest but I was looking at the Aberden-Basingstoke service recently & it was reasonably competitive.

They also do Edinburgh-Sheffield, which may be cheaper - Remember that Dundee-Edinburgh have that cheap commuter fare arrangement.

    Timebale here.

    http://www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk/SiteImages/Assets/3/Timetable_Scotland_North_East_to_South_West_and_South_Coast_Dec_08v22_.pdf

From Edinburgh starts from page 11. from Dundee starts page 12

Personally I'd avoid Megatrain or any other branch of the Stagecoach empire like the plague - Some things are just too cheap & I've been let down/f*cked around badly by them in the past.

    Using the following link
    www.nationalexpresseastcoast/birthday
should find Aberdeen-London fares for £5 one way.

Consider splitting the trip to reduce the cost.

The obvious thing to do would be Dundee to York, then York to Sheffield, Sheffield to London & London to Dundee

Book all the tickets through the NXEC website as on the two longest legs you will get a discount or pay only £5

BTW Westfield isn't Europe's largest shopping mall - Bluewater (or the Metrocentre depending on who you ask) is bigger.

Westfield is Europe's largest inner-city shopping mall
