Speeding Ticket Advice

We were driving past a Gatso on a North Wales road recently. We were driving slowly as we were in an unfamiliar area looking for a place to turn around. We passed a Gatso camera and immediately turned left into a village hall car park .

As we turned into the drive the I remarked that the camera had just flashed, but it couldn't be us.

Today I have received a notice of prosecution saying we were driving at 37mph.

I would like to see the photographs, but nothing on the NIP tell us the process for this.

Can anyone advise us on how to go about getting the evidence ?

See https://www.pepipoo.com forums the best resource for these issues. Be prepared for £60 and 3 points though.

You have 28 days to fill in the NIP confirming who was driving. They don't at this stage have to provide evidence unless you decide to contest it in court.

Best approach is to write a letter to the camera office, requesting a photo "to assist with driver identification". Keep the letter brief, do not mention "evidence" or "proof" at this stage.

If they send you photos, scan them and remove all identifying info, then post them on the other (unmentionable) site for detailed advice. With a Gatso, the photos will be from the rear, and we need to make sure that the number of gridlines crossed between photo 1 and photo 2 correlates with the displayed speed reading from the radar. If it's out by more than 10%, you have a case worth fighting.

Bear in mind that the 28 day clock keeps ticking, regardless of how quickly they respond, so you need to get the form sent back by day 28, but not any earlier.
