    They don't test them.

Think it would only fail it if they came on with other lights or something silly like that. I think a cracked lens will only fail if for example it made the headlight beam pattern not conform to MOT requirements - or an indicator, rear sidelight, brake light or rear fog light showed some white light instead of appropriate colour. (Unless it would come under the sharp edges thing).

its just cracked so no sharp edges, its also pretty low so you probably wouldnt notice too easily :)

they work 100% but i dont really ever use them
  • They don't get checked at MOT's. The same with cars with only one reversing light. Or cars without a rear wiper...
  • excellent, shes ready to sail through another mot :)

front fogs, rear wipers are not tested mate

but the only thing if fitted which must work is the high level brake light

  • MCJORDI,

Not always is the high level brake light a failure. If the light does not work, and the tester cannot see the wiring, then he must give the presenter ( you ) the benefit of the doubt and assume the light is not wired in and therefore not a light.

Reversing lights are not a test item and never have been. http://www.motuk.co.uk/mot_testing.htm

Sorry but if the light is factory fitted, it must work. HOWEVER, you can put some black tape over it.

Even a cracked headlight lens can be ok. Mine passed twice before I eventually found a secondhand unit at a sensible price ....... well, found one at all actually.
