How totally irresponsible of her to talk the economy down like this!

It's about time we had a bit of truth for a change. It's funny how most of the Labour planks won't even use the term recession, apparently it's only a downturn. Haha0

Where is mitchaa and ISTL and all the others who bash me for warning that we are in for a serious economic downturn that may have a profound impact on house prices? 1930s-style depression. The remarks suggest that the Government are considering the prospect of Britain facing a 1930s-style depression rather than a traditional recession."For months they tried to pretend that Britain would be better off than previous recessions. Now someone who sits round Gordon Brown's Cabinet table admits that it will be worse.
"If that is true then all the forecasts made by the Chancellor just a few weeks ago will be blown out of the water, and the debt will be higher, unemployment queues longer, and the economic misery greater than we have known."0 -
As long as the bad words are prefixed with global and the next sentence contains hard working families, and preferably do-nothing party then I think they have clearance from our dear leader.
At some point, surely, the average voter will say - hold on - weren't you in power for the last ten years or so? Why, if dimwits such as the doom mongers and feeble minded of MSE could see it coming, why couldn't you?0 -

Bashed again
It's another manic Monday. 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

Well they must have worked out that they are starting to look stupid taking that line now; now its obvious to everyone whats happening they have to finally admit its a recession.
But it was only a few months ago that Gordon Brown claimed that there wouldn't be a recession here because Britain is the best placed country to weather a downturn:rotfl: What a moron that man is. Now he claims it started in America and claims to be the saviour of the world!!!!0 -

I find it rather strange that Labours poll ratings are getting better as the economic problems really strike home. The perceived wisdom is that gov'ts suffer as the economy suffers. It must say something about how the average voter perceives Labour versus Conservative policies in dealing with recession. Rightly or wrongly the Conservatives are seen as unfeeling and unwilling to take action to help the average person who may be unemployed or losing his house. Whether in reality Labour can do much better is a moot point but if Labour are winning this argument the Conservatives need to buck up their game.0

Many on here, including me have been saying this for months, perhaps Politicians have got so tired of talking Bxxxcks, they will finally tell it how it is, no point trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes now .. Or perhaps there is indeed an alternative Motive..0
