Can't get my head round interest free period..

Sorry to post this but I just can't work it out !!

I have an Abbey Zero card on 0% interest until January 3rd 09. My next payment is due on December 30th.

My question. Do I need to pay off the whole balance on Dec 30th (£6k) in order to avoid paying any interest OR can I wait until my Jan statement comes and pay it all off on the January payment wihout incurring any interest??

I hope this is clear, can't get my head round this one at all.

You would need to pay it all off so that the payment clears by January 3rd.

Are you 110% sure the expiry date of your 0% offer is Jan 3rd 09 ? Do you have that in writing from or verbally confirmed by Abbey ?
The reason I ask is that this has been discussed numerous tmes here and there are conflictiing reports of when the offers expire.

If certain of the date, then the balance must be clear by the 3Rd Jan and not the statement due date, HOWEVER i would advise you pay prior to that due to the Bank Holidays/weekend at that time.

EDIT : In fact I would advise making the payment no later than the 23rd/24th Dec to ensure it reaches Abbey in good time.

The Jan 3rd date is on my statements. That's an Abbey Zero card. I'll get it paid in by next Monday after looking at the calendar, so that Bank Holidays etc don't cause a problem.

On the point of expiry dates on Abbey 0% offers, I have another Abbey card on 0% and on the statements for that one it doesn't say when the expiry date is. I thought it was some time in April 09 but I think I'll give them a call to be sure. Not at all impressed with Abbey customer service at all though, so no doubt I'll need to double check and get whatever they tell me in writing. In a way I'll be glad when both cards are paid off and I can wave goodbye to Abbey.
