Managing your Mortgage online?

I can't see any of my mortgage online although I have been hassling The Principality to set up online access to mortgages.
I pay monthly by SO which includes my fixed monthly overpayment. I also have my details as a bill payment saved in my online banking (Nationwide flex account). When I have any little bits of cash around I just transfer it across. Annoyingly though I have to get all organised for this and get my purse and my card reader out ready. I still do it though!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
OK, so I managed to make a payment to the mortgage, and the money left the flexaccount but hasn't appeared on the mortgage account! Does it only tally in 24rs or at the end of the month or something?"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0

How do you make a transfer from the FlexAccount to the mortgage within Nationwide's online banking?
When I go to transfer, I am only given the option of selecting my ISA account.
Any pointers would be helpful.
** EDIT**
I've worked it out, but I get 'We are unable to process your request'. Grrr.
This might be because the money I was transfering might still be in transit from the other bank, as I only sent it a few minutes ago. Anyone else had this problem?
I set up the transfer from my flexaccount to my mortgage as a bill payment.
I emailed nationwide as I was unsure how to do this and their reply was as follows -
As a FlexAccount holder, you can overpay using our Internet Banking service, by setting up an additional regular payment as follows:
- Select your FlexAccount from the list in 'My Accounts' screen
- Select the 'Payments & Transfers' option from the menu on the left
- Under the option 'Pay Bill or Transfer Money' click on the highlighted text 'Set up a new arrangement'
Your mortgage account will be listed in the drop down box
- The next page will ask for Arrangement description e.g. 'Mortgage'
- You can then enter the amount, frequency and 'from'
Once a regular payment has been set up, you can amend or cancel it via the 'Manage Arrangements' section in the 'Payments & Transfers' option online.
Alternatively, if you wish to make irregular or one-off payments you can do this by making a transfer. This has been simplified online so please use the following instructions:
- Please select your FlexAccount from the 'My Accounts' screen
- Select 'Payments and Transfers' from the left hand side
- Select your mortgage account from the 'To' dropdown
- Key in the amount to pay & the date & click on 'Next'
- Click on 'Confirm' to action the request
The maximum Bill Payment is £10,000. Larger amounts can be transferred by repeating the payment request.
Transfers from your FlexAccount may take several days to show on your mortgage. However, the transaction is backdated so if it's paid on a working day you'll get the benefit from the date paid. If it's paid at the weekend the interest will be backdated to the next working day. Working days are classed as Monday to Friday, and exclude bank holidays.
easy peasy.
and as others have said nationwide show the mortgage amount outstanding on a daily basis so to see how much interest you are paying just log in on 2 consecutive days and take the difference.
Hope this helps!0 -

the transfer can take 2-3 working days to show but always gets backdated0 -
Thanks everyone.
Now that I've made the first few steps on OPing, I can get stuck in.
In the last 2/3 months, the mortgage payment has dropped by £180+, so it's perfect for ploughing that back into the debt."I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0 -
I have a mortgage with Coventry Buildo and I can see my mortgage balance online. I have a SO set up to make a monthly overpayment. If I want to add more then I can just transfer the money from my Smile online account to the CBS. It is very motivating to see the balance reducing after every payment.
We have a mortgage with CBS and I had no clue you could view your mortgage online. Will give them a call in the morning about this, but just because I'm impatient and you're here: what sort of facilities do you get to see when you log in?0 -
I make regular overpayments to C&G through internet banking. Give them a call and ask them for a reference number and sort code for your mortgage account to make the payments. I agree though it is frustrating not being able to see your mortgage balance and statements online!0

My mortgage was with Portman Building Society, which was taken over by Nationwide. My account has recently been transferred to Nationwide's computer system, so I can now register for the Nationwide internet banking service and view my account online.
I'm on a fixed rate of 5.49% until July, so I'll try to make the maximum overpayment of 5% before then. Wish me luck!0
