Our mortgage with Intelligent Finance is visible on-line. Interest calculations are monthly and all transactions show the reduction in amount owing as soon as the hit.

The one thing I have noticed, which I haven't got around to working out yet is that the mortgage payments sometimes hits before the interest calculation and vise versa, so not sure if the interest calculation is calculated on the smaller total value some months and not others. Think this may be one to work out over the next few weeks.
  • Hi Sideways,

I think you should double check with C&G regarding making overpayments as my mortgage is with C&G and I've always made my overpayments on-line. I do have to ring them up every month to obtain a balance but I was told earlier this year that making mortgages 'visible' on line in the same way you can see your bank accounts was something that they were looking into.

Do they charge you for making OP's via cheque? I was told that overpayments by cheque would incur a £10 fee

  • I have a first direct offset and can see the exact balance all the time, its a great encourager for overpaying, but also frustrating at this time of year when you want to but can't overpay!!

Hi, thanks, I will speak to C&G, possibly make an appointment to see one of their advisors in my local branch.

To date I have not been charged for paying by cheque, it was the only option open to me. Perhaps things have changed recently, will let you know how I get on.

I was just thinking, wouldn’t it be good to be able to ‘see’ and manage your mortgage online?

Just like a savings account, you could log-in and see what the current balance is, make an over-payment by simply transferring money in and watching the balance re-calculate, knowing instantly the balance has reduced and your actions just saved you some money, no matter how small.

    Does your provider allow this?

With my provider, C&G, if I want to know my balance or wish to make an over-payment I have to drive into town, take my ‘pass-book’ with me and write out a cheque- they don’t even take card payments! I guess because a cheque takes longer to process, therefore C&G earn a bit more in interest

I have already adjusted my monthly payments to ‘over-pay’ but it would be nice to simply log-on and pay a little more if you happen to have some spare cash that week, as we all know, every little helps.

One Account have an excellent online site!!
  • I have a Halifax mortgage and I can view the balance on-line, but what I don't like is that it doesn't show any transactions, I make regualr overpayments by SO but it is hard to tell when they have been applied unless you check it every day.

Nationwide offer this service you can see your mortgage in real time which changes daily for the interest update. Any overpayments from my NW flexaccount are instant.

How do you make a transfer from the FlexAccount to the mortgage within Nationwide's online banking?

When I go to transfer, I am only given the option of selecting my ISA account.

    Any pointers would be helpful.

    ** EDIT**

I've worked it out, but I get 'We are unable to process your request'. Grrr.

This might be because the money I was transfering might still be in transit from the other bank, as I only sent it a few minutes ago. Anyone else had this problem?
