Vodafone Mobile BB - no IE?

I wonder if someone could help.
Since receiving my mobile broadband modem (USB stick with a sim card inside), I have had a problem using IE 2.
I've found the connection speed and coverage good, I can connect through the Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite Software that comes preloaded onto the modem - by that I mean: I can detect a network (usually 3G) and hit the connect button, and apparently be connected to the network.
However, when I launch IE (I'm sure I have version 2 - I have the tabbed browsing, that's IE 2, isn't it?), EVERY time I get the error message that Internet Explorer is not working, it checks for a solution, then closes, telling me that IE encountered a problem, and that if a solution exists, I will be notified (of course, there is no notification).
The only way I can get online now, counter-intuitively, is to open my BBC iPlayer download manager, then hit the 'Download Programs' button, which takes me to BBC iPlayer home site, from where I can navigate onwards.
If I try to open a new tab, the same error message pops up, and ironically, it happens on vodafone's home site as well - so I can't even find their email to ask them for help....
If anyone has a suggestion, I can use wireless connections in the libraries I work in to solve problems online; for example, should I simply download Mozilla Firefox? If so, where do I find that?
Many thanks,
xx

The latest version of IE is 7. You should try to re-install it. You can download it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx
Firefox can be found here:
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
Are you saying the error only happens when you use the mobile broadband or also when you connect to a wireless network?0 -

Thanks Bonjour - I meant I think I have IE 7 - got a little confuddled there for a moment....
Haven't yet tried a wireless network (I presume that will diagnose whether it is a problem with the browser, or a problem with the mobile BB?), but will do so today, and get back to you.
Thanks for your help,
Jj
If at first you don't succeed, then sky-diving isn't for you0 -
I've just installed FF - it seems to connect fine. Will try the wireless network and get back to you - would like to know what the problem is, even though there's a way around it.
Thanks again for your help,
jj

Right, am now on a wireless connection, as opposed to my mobile BB connection, and IE seems to work fine - I'm using it now!
Any further advice/thoughts/suggestions welcome!
Many thanks,
Jj
