Hi - I have a 3G ipod and have my music on it, but have lost the main itunes file on my PC. I now can't synch it as I am worried that it will wipe off what is on there if I reload itunes again and start from scratch.
Is there any way to download my music collection from the ipod before I connect to itunes.
I am not really a techie so if anyone can help could they keep it quite simple......
Thanks for anyones input.

Itune gives you the option to delete from the ipod on connection to a different computer, just chose no and you should be ok.Welcome, rogerramjet.

There are loads of tools available to transfer music off the iPod to your PC - see here for examples.
You can't just copy the files off as you need the iTunesDB file as well, this contains details of all your playlists/ratings etc etc etc. Best to use some software to do it, especially if you're looking to resurrect your music collection. Most of the pieces of software have free trials so you should be fine.
Of course, as rogerramjet said, iTunes will give you a choice about whether to auto-sync or sync manually. If you choose manually it will leave your iPod alone BUT you cannot get your music OFF the iPod without using a third-party piece of software - iTunes is one way sync (PC -> iPod) only.
