free MP3 ripper

Options
Hi

Does anyone know of a decent bit of free software that will rip CD audio tracks to MP3? Been looking around on download.com but can't find a free one!

Cheers!

My OH uses freerip, not sure where he got it from though... maybe a google search might bring it up?!

He's a techie too so it must be good! :D
  • This question comes up quite a lot, so there must be something wrong with the ripper built into Windows Media Player. Would someone spill the beans and tell me what?

Windows Media Player rips CD's into WMA files not MP3... well I think that's the reason anyway! :D

My favourite, and it's free, is without a doubt Exact Audio Copy

You'll need LAME to go with it, details on the site.

Yep, EAC and LAME will give the best and most accurate rips. Great software.

Alternatively if you want something a little more simple than the above try Cdex.
