  • Block them in, that's what I would do, see how they like their access blocked off.
  • The deterrent suggestion (signs) is well worth considering and much more MSE than my suggestion :o

There will always be cheeky beggars but - equally - there will be those who genuinely think that any car park looking space is legit - I know, I know but ....

Already have a sign. It says clamping is in operation and there's a £50 penalty. It stops most, but not all. I can't actually enforce it unless I also pay for a license.

Annoyingly, I've had to pay for replacement signs on a couple of occasions due to vandalism (and no, it is far from being a bad area - I've just been hear for about 10 years).
if you parked behind the offenders, would you still be on your land?

In the case of today, when they took the two places at the road end of the drive, I could only block them in if I parked across the pavement (of course, putting me at risk of a ticket).

Are they blocking emergency access? Are they actually on private or public land?

I used to work at a University with a central courtyard car park. People used to tailgate under the barrier, then park on hatched areas. The University purchased/ made some A5 size notices which they used VERY sticky glue to attach to the windscreen. It didn't damage the car but takes hours to scrub off the residue, whilst staff looked out and laughed. Most of them did not make the same mistake twice!

Have a word with your local clamping outfit, if you already have the signs in place they should have the licence to clamp all you need is to get an agreement whereby you give em a call if someones blocking your drive
Obviously they would want to keep the fee but at least you would know the culprits were being hit in the pocket

Not emergency as such, no, but necessary for our work. Having said that I did once have two cars park alongside each other today, when my car was further into our parking (ie. I was blocked in and couldn't get out). This happened at a time when my wife was around 7-8 months pregnant so, had she needed to get to hospital for an early birth, I would have potentially had a struggle getting there in time. :( Alas, people sometimes don't appreciate the potential implications of their selfishness.

My Uni used to do that also, FF. :) Had forgotten about that one - only problem is, though, I could see the victims probably being prepared to scrape their keys down my or my employees' cars in return.

    Option 2. Lump hammer.

Sign on wall saying "All vehicles parked at owners risk." Moron parks car, comes back to find a dent in the door.

I think the chain would be a safer idea. ;)

I couldn't possibly condone this, but I understand the sentiment ;):o
