  • At your old house - I am guessing that you were using the wrong payment card at one point or another. This means the payments were not allocated to your account, but the units of gas used were.

At your new house - If you want a credit meter, you will more than likely have to pay a security deposit with any supplier when moving from PrePay to credit. iirc, you will receive this deposit back, with intrest at the average national rate, after 12 months providing you are not in debt.

If anyone has anything else to add please do so as meter locations are not my strong point :)

I believe that as long as your meter is accesible & not more than 6 feet above ground level, your supplier has no obligation to move it free of charge.
  • i know how you feel, i live upstairs in a maisonette and both my meters are outside, one on the side of the flast below and one round the corner which means if i wake up and the leccy has gon eoff i have to show all and sundry my pyjamas to reset it!

you just will have to keep checking it everyday as the emergency credit costs more than normal credit

oh and powergen have been the cheapest for me and clubcard points from tesco too

and i keep getting bills of £600+ from powergen, (i only have a gas cooker so all else is leccy) but i just ring them and they say its ok so i guess im in the right as ive paid for the leccy upfront havent i?!

keep all your receipts from the newsagents so you can prove youve paid and try to remeber how long money lasts so youll know when to top-up- i.e. my £10 lasts 6-7 days in my meter so i know whn to get a top-up

any finally hope against hope it breaks coz then theyd put in anormal meter for you! (i would have gotten one when mine broke if i wasnt a council tenant!)

i know it sucks im sorry and i empathise! :)
