  • Sorry no advice but .....
sounds like their so called insurance (or whatever they call it) is not worth paper it's written on to me. I sell on ebay and if buyer doesn't want insurance for small cheap items I just obtain proof of postage so they have a little bit of protection but as items are used I wouldn't have receipts either. I wonder if it's the same if you put a claim in for items sent recorded?
    Hope you get something sorted!

Tell them the receipts were in the parcel in case your family needed to change the gifts.

Or just show them a receipt for somethign you have bought to the same value. You're not trying to make money out of them, you just are due a refund for lost goods.

    Best of luck.

all they'll send you is 6 first class stamps...........

ive never heard of or had experience of the post office paying out anything else........regardless if you sent it normal post/with or without certificate of posting.........or paid for recorded delivery or top dollar for special delivery!

    its all just a con!!

there is NO way to guarantee safe delivery of anything and get full refund if it gets stolen!

I was paid out £32.00 for an ebay item that went missing. It was recorded mail. It took about just over a month for them to confirm my letter, write to the other person (who never bothered to respond) and then send me a cheque, so it worked for me.

I paid an extra 72p for First class recorded, so I didn't pay top dollar at all.

Oh - and they never asked for a receipt (this was just back in July of 2008).

I have also had another claim paid out - for an item that wasn't sent recorded - but sent to Australia that was lost. They paid me the full amount also.

If its your first claim they will pay you the full amount as a gesture of goodwill :)
