  • I'm intrigued. Why do you want to back up your drivers by themselves? Genuine question out of interest.

    Hi TOG,

Ive recently had 3 win98 machines to do and finding drivers can be a pain.

    Does that make sense.
  • Do you mean format/re-install the OS and then have to find drivers?

Well I want to back-up the Drivers first as Driverguide doesnt have all drivers then I wish to format, clean install, the reinstall drivers from disk.

    No I havent TOG...
  • Disregard - it doesn't support 98. But if you ever have to do the same for XP or 2000 it's fantastic. You can slipstream service packs, hotfixes and drivers onto a single Windows install iso. Absolutely brilliant.

Yeah Ive seen stuff like that before just like slipstreaming from the eldergeeks site.. looks like im gonna have to buy the Driver Guide Toolkit at £11.99 + Vat
  • It massively simplifies the process in a single GUI. Previously I used to do the manual slipstreaming which is a mega-chore. I must admit it's the only app I've seen that allows the addition of non-Windows drivers, e.g. chipset, VGA to the iso to install with Windows. give it a try you'll be amazed.

I will give it a go its just that with XP machines drivers are easier to find as they are newer and XP has a better database, its the old 98 machines that cause the trouble.. Free Driver Utilities are a nightmare to find..
