Car Parking fine- should I have been given this at 9pm at night??

Hi guys,
I hope this is something someone can help me with as i am struggling to find money to pay this fine....
I parked in Birmingham last week just before 9pm on double yellow lines. I knew i wasn't going to be long, and as there was no where to park, and parking payment times end at 6pm, i thought this would be ok. When parking i made sure i wasnt obstructing drive ways etc and as far as i believed, wardens would have finished for the day as it was now free parking.
I returned to the car with a parking ticket. The offence being " 01. Parking in a restrcted street during prescribed hours"
As I am really poor right now ( i have no job aft 31/12/08 and still cant seem to find one for next year - no idea how imgoing to pay bills etc) i am trying to find any loop hole possible to get out of this fine. looking at the reason for the ticket - arent i parking outside the prescribed hours which is 8am - 6pm at night??
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated! i have looked at the issued ticket and cant seem to find ant admin errors, so dont think i have that excuse.
Many Thanks guys

Double yellow lines = no parking at any time
Read your highway code"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
mrcow got there before me.
You can't park on double yellows at ANY time.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

Ah, there's your problem. Right there. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
is this a wind up?0

Pay up. Then go read the highway code again. Double yellow lines are in force 24/7 unless indicated otherwise by a yellow rectangular sign on a pole with the picture for a clearway symbol and under it, the times it starts and ends.0 -
Post a scan of both sides of the ticket after removing identifying features, including bae code, possibly there is an error that you might have missed. There are many tickets issued which are faulty but which look fine to most of us.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Again wrong.
Double yellow lines indicate a no waiting/parking restriction 24/7 - full stop.
Current B'ham paperwork is compliant - at last view.
Pay it.0 -
unless the lines aren't marked properly on the road, you are going to have to pay up.Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0

I don't think there are any incorrect road markings in Birmingham plus they are going round renewing all the double yellow lines too.
Sorry, you parked on a double yellow which means no parking at any time so you need to pay up.
Next time, instead of taking the car into Birmingham hop on the bus, you can get an evening saver ticket for £2.00 or a daysaver ticket for £3 - buses run regularly and there is need to hunt for parking space.:D0 -
Did you park on the double yellow line for the purpose of loading your vehicle? Unless there is a sign saying 'No Loading' accompanied by double yellow kerb blips then this is permitted.
You should brush up on your Highway Code otherwise you are going to keep being stung for a lot of money.0
