Monthly bills too high??

I live with 4 other people, and we pay our landlord £35 a month each to cover all bils - gas, electricity, water, internet, tv licence.
Is £175 a month for household bills normal or are we being ripped of?
We are going to ask for copies of the bills soon, but I would like to know what the average costs are from other people.
Thanks!

Monthly in a house of 5:
Gas: £85
Elec: £37
TV Licence: £11
Internet: £30
Total without water: £163
Water we don't pay, we get it free woo :T
Sounds about right to me. Welcome to the real world.0 -
My monthly bills for two people in a two bedroom flat are approximately £65 for electricity (almost no heating on), water, television, and internet. I would not rock the boat if you use much heating as you may end up having to pay more - we are very frugal, but the average student is pretty free with hot water, tumble dryers and heating (the expensive bits). If you think you are all very careful, you could ask if the owner has checked out the cheapest supplier - and offer to do the legwork for him/ her.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Me and three of my housemates pay £30 every month into an account from where everything is debted (water/TV/gas/electricity/broadband). So far we have stayed in credit for 2+ years.
@Lokolo is your internet through Sky? Our internet is £11 for line rental + £7.50 for O2 (one of us has an o2 contract phone) = £18.50 p/m unlimited 8mb.Buy for value not cost.
Feb Grocery = £55.87 / 800 -

Sounds like a bargain to me; certainly not a rip off!0 -

No Virgin Media, its £21 at the momemnt (offer) with phone (free weekend landline calls, we never use it anyway but it helped us get a deal). 20mb unlimited (5 geeks in one house...), but going upto £31 for the next 6 months.

There are 4 of us in our house...we all pay £200 for rent and all bills except internet.0

you could always monitor the electricity/gas/water meters to see how much you are using.
fwiw, i think you're getting a good deal at that much each. especially if you are also setting the central heating when you want it (not sure if you are).... i wouldn't necessarily demand to see the bills as it may backfire with the LL realising you are getting a very good deal.
in a shared house with 5 people in total, we paid on average £30 a month for electricity, gas and internet, so getting water rates and tv license in for £5 seems pretty good to me.:happyhear0 -
Four of us in our 3 bed house and the same bills add up to about that.0
