Options
as the title says, the above company now have a message on their answerphone to say they have ceased trading. I have been stung here-have bought and paid for a bed and now they are not in a position to honour the order.Where can I find out my consumer right?

If you paid over £100 then contact your credit card company http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases. If you paid by Visa (only) debit card you need to contact your bank and do a chargeback
  • nope, I paid with the good old RBS switch card. Do I have any way of getting the money back?

  • nope just maestro and cirrus
  • Found this out yesterday - we ordered several items end of November with a 20 day lead time.... tried to contact them yesterday to find out when we would get our goods and could not get through - see on the website that it now says they have ceased trading.

Have contacted the credit card company, but although the total purchase was about £300, it was four different furniture items, only one of which was over £100 so I think I may be out of luck with Section 75... so may only get half the money back
  • We are the same. We brought a bedroom suite from discountfurnituredirect about 700 should have come this weekend, just checked their web site yesterday and saw the message. Great, we were let down by homebase first waiting 2 months for funiture in the end they gave my money back and now this. Already contact credit card company who are sending a form out for me. just hope I can get all the money back as we currently have no bedroom furniture
  • Paid for a £360 wardrobe with a Nationwide Visa debit card in early November.

Will ask NW for forms as soon as they start working agai. Thanks for info.
  • Discount furniture direct have almost £600 of my money too for 2 wardrobes i ordered in November, i paid with my bank debit card. never had anything like this happen before, am unemployed and had saved that money for ages, i donthave any furniture at alll now just a rickety clothes rail i have borrowed. How are these people allowed to get away with this, its fraud isnt it taking our money and not delivering a service.

Hopefully we will be able to get our money back via the visa chargeback scheme
  • I bought from this company in november and was waiting for delivery only to find they had ceased trading. As i paid by debit card i contacted my bank who are refusing to investigate as discount furniture direct are still an active company. any ideas of what to do next to recover the money would be gratefully received.
