Natwest Current Account, Change To ??

Options
Hi all, i'm currently with Natwest and have been since day one and i'm thinking of switching to another bank.

I've read quite a lot on the site about various accounts and i'm just after some 'live' advice.

Main reasons for changing are better interest rates and a cash incentive sounds good too for little work!

Alliance & Leicester sounds very good at the moment although i've no one to recommend me to get the £50 on offer - anyone willing to help me here! Another one i've looked at is Barclays who are offering £100 to switch, very tempting.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

i signed up with Alliance and leicester 3 months ago and so far they are great. id be more than happy to do the referal thing although in honesty there are people on here who would give you 40 quid, i however could not afford to (see my sig lol)

PM me if interested, and ill send off the forms, otherwise check out the referrals board for people offering the 40 quid
  • If you do get another account & it's with a Building Society (BS) don't close the Natwest account, just leave a nominal amount in it. The reason is that the BS don't offer a full counter service as they're not 'clearing' banks as such e.g. you can't pay bank giro credits at a BS (catalogues, utilities etc) and they won't take bagged coin off you (or only a couple of bags at a time), so if you may need those services keep the Natwest account as well -
If there is a major reason that you shouldn't keep both accounts I'm sure someone on this board will let you know
  • I totally agree with virginmoneysaver , I work in a bank, and we get building society customers coming to us to try and pay their bills all the time as their BS does not offer this service. If they don't bank with us we charge them £10.
Building Societies may offer higher interest rates, but fall behind on the variety of services that they offer.
