Hi Guys
I've just found out today my dad has shares in MFI from when he used to work there?!, was just wondering if theres anything I can do?, as a first step I am going to try and contact the administrators, to make it more complicated these are paper shares and he cant find them at the moment.. hopefully they have a record but I dont know much about these things.

A lot of employee share schemes are run by 3rd parties so your dad might not have had the share certificates. See if you can find the dividend payment slips or any yearly valuation statements from such a body.
I suspect the shares may not be worth much, if anything, even if someone were to buy the company from the administrators."How could I have been so mistaken as to trust the experts" - John F Kennedy 19620 -
Shareholders are last in the queue.
If a buyer isn't found you will get little or nothing for the shares.
If a buyer is found you will most likely get little.

I think the MFI listing was changed to Galiform, then MFI de-merged and sold to managers. The Galiform share price is around 15p, so the shares are still worth something.Founder member MSE Jet Airways Mile High Club

Yes, the kitchen unit manufacturing arm (Galiform) was demerged from the retail arm (MFI). Galiform still act as guarantors for the MFI leases, but this has been priced into the Galiform share price.....I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another, so please feel free to ignore this.0 -

Woah woah woah. That's dangerous talk. I think Thomas99 is right - MFI was bought by Galliform so they could get hold of the commercial properties, then demerged and had the properties rented back. So there is a possibility that the MFI shares are actually Galliform shares, which are definitely worth something.Mmmm, credit crunch. Tasty.0
