  • OP I am having the same problem as you.

I have auctioned one on Ebay, A901. It worked ok for the first few minutes, but when I tried to turn up the speed, white smoke came out from the back.

I switched off at once. After letting it cool down, I switched on again to see if it still works. It did, but I was too scared to use it.

Seller very nicely offered to refund 4/5 of the selling price, but I don't want to take his refund if I can fix it easily.

Read on previous posts that it might be something to do with a burnt capacitor which should be easy enough to replace (?)

    Any advice? Thanks!

Don't really like second hand goods, esp. electrical goods, but most people said Kenwood Chef old models are very hard wearing. Hope mine can be fixed or else I will buy a new Kenwood Patissier instead.
  • Gosh, I have had many a second hand Kenwood Chef and never had that happen! You guys must be quite unlucky. I have had a burning smell come from the motor if the mixer hasn't been used for quite some time - the repair man said it was the old dust etc. burning off and it would soon stop, which it always did. There was never any smoke involved though.

I would take your mixers to a Kenwood repair centre and have them look at them, it may be something very easy and cheap to fix. I don't think I would continue using it if you thought there might be any chance of fire.

Please may I revive this thread and ask...

My A701 Glass liquidiser is turning everything grey!! Any liquid I blend in it turns metallic colour!

Does anyone know what's happpening? More importantly, how can I solve it?

    Any help much appreciated

Maybe the rubber seal that goes in the bottom of the jug needs replacing? If it is old it will deteriorate and bits will come off as it blends - that happened with the blender I got off Ebay. And the seal IS grey (on mine anyway). You can get the seals off of ebay for just a few quid.
