I just finished my christmas shopping with a grocery shop from Asda. But they have left the security tags on all of the bottles of spirits
As these are all christmas gifts I would ideally like to remove these (don't want my mum thinking that I've stolen her baileys!), any ideas on how to remove them???

Could you use a pair of plier or wire/tin snips? On the exposed wire? Or perhaps ring Asda customer services? I hope you get this sorted. Happy Christmas!:A :

I'd call the store & explain that they are shopping for you to make life easier not complicate matters.
Oversight I know but they will need to collect it, remove tags & re deliver OR re deliver some & exchange for yours.0 -
i agree you need to call asda and tell them. I wouldn't try to cut them as some of them have dye in them that goes everywhere and wont come off (don't think these are the ones , think they are usually on clothes but you never know!)
p.s only have this knowledge from working in a shop not from persoal experience!!0 -
i ordered for spirits as part of my online shoppine and all the whisky bottles came with security tags on. called up the customer services and told them about the problem. they sent out a driver, collected the bottles and returned with their security tags off!

DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE IT YOURSELF!! As the poster above says, it could contain a dye.
As everyone says, call your local Asda first and make them aware of the problem, then head down there with the bottles and your invoice and they should be able to get a customer service person to remove the tags for you...you may even get a freebie or some vouchers if you push the issue or having had to travel to the store. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -
Had this problem with ASDA and Tesco.
Phoned their customer services to complain (got a voucher for compo) then take them to the store with your delivery note and they remove them no problem.0 -
but insist they sort the problem by coming to you rather than vice versa. You've paid for the delivery of the items and they've failed in that, so don't let them suggest you should have to head to one of their stores.0

I would agree with the above posts about complaining- you could really lay into them and kick up a fuss, you may even get a refund in addition to new untaged bottles!
I am not sure the pics are of the actual tags on your bottles- are they not the type that are like a cup over the neck of the bottle?
Basicly, the point in having a tag is to cause the bottle damage before they come off- rendering the bottle near useless (unless you are just in it for the drink alone!) so trying to get these off yourself is pretty much going to waste your time.0 -
The shoplifters in Sainsburys don't seem to have a problem with them...........
There are LOADS of these tags tucked behind the shelves - no dye noticable!!!
:rolleyes:0 -
If you keep wiggling the tag it may come off. The only reason i know is when in sainsburys last week i bought a bottle of baileys and the man on the self scan took the tag off that way for me rather than using the magnetic machine.
Not very good of asda sending them out that way though :mad:0
