with only 8 or 9 years left till retirement i feel my money is not working well for me ,, its a mess basically ,i have various savings accounts ,all with one bank ,i joined this site to get more info ,ok it was great but i'm still floundering ,the bank want to talk to me about investments ,should i stay with them or move my money i suppose i'm a bit scared really that i will mess up

Write it all down on paper in a list. Then next to each account put the AER. Close any giving you an AER below 4.5%
Go online and open an ING account. It is very simple and uncomplicated.
When you have managed that then explore a bit re better rates eg the alliance and leicester but one step at a time
Don`t talk to your bank about investments. Get your savings accounts sorted first and get ING rolling. When you feel secure again, then and only then, talk to an independent financial advisor, specialising in retirement planning0
