I'm not in debt any more but my motivation for money saving is to leave university with savings rather than debt (except student loan). Currently I have £600 in savings (since I changed my ways a few months ago, cut back, payed off debts and started saving) but I will ideally have more than that when I graduate in July. I want to feel that I have a bit of money saved to help me do the necessary to break into my chosen career after uni. Finding a job and beginning a career feels stressful enough without worrying about money too. The relaxed feeling I have when I know I have savings in the bank is what motivates me!
Well done, you'll thank yourself for not having the pressure to find the right job straight away; even a couple of months of unemployment can really break you :T

    Current debt: £14,000.00

My goal is never ever to have to live in the absolute poverty that I did as a child. Being brought up where the bread line was something far better than where we were, it's a good motivator for ensring you don't end up there yourself.
  • My motivation is to buy our first home. Got married last year and before this we both spent money without thinking, had expensive wedding and then expensive honeymoon.

I love this site though and know that when I'm debt free I won't resort back to my old ways.. I actually think about what I spend now and love the feeling of being in control..

Would eventually like to have some savings but still be able to afford a nice quality of life.
