Argos (state of goods)

  • I recently bought a DECT phone from Argos only to get it back to the car and find it too had clearly been used - it was covered in light scratches and the metal charger things were dull & worn  !

Went to return it to only be told that it hadn't been used as the plastic was still over the screen and I wouldn't be able to get a refund  !

I had to remind the guy at the CS desk of the 16 money back guarantee - what a dumbass  (him not me ;) )!
  • I'm not buying any furniture stuff from Argos.
In October last year we bought a kids trampoline as it was cheap and ideal as a Christmas present for our daughter.
When we got it home we opened it - to discover that only the frame was in the box!!

Took it back and checked the replacement in store - all there.

However, on Christmas Eve we tried to put it together, ready for Christmas Day. We followed the instructions and even looked at the pictures. Guess what?!? It was physically impossible to match ours to the picture as the frame was not correctly sized! We decided to improvise as we couldn't take it back as it was way past the date of return. It's safe though......

Just after Christmas we used some of our gift vouchers (in fact all of them) on a CD/DVD storage unit - £50.
All was fine until it came to putting the doors on. The instructions and picture were, quite frankly, useless........
There were NO predrilled holes - yet we had to try and accurately fit 4 solid oak doors.
Needless to say, it's far from perfect!!
You need to be a carpenter to get it right!
For £20 we could have got the same thing without doors and a lot less hassle........

That counts as a manufacturing defect therefore you would have been well within your rights to take it back and get a replacement.... they cant exactly send it for repair.
  • My little boys main pressie for xmas was from Argos. When my partner brought it home, i thought the box looked dodgie coz it was all sellotaped up, i said i bet someone has returned it. Any how you know what its like trying to talk to a man! ha, so he wrapped it up and put it under the tree. On Christmas day we opened the box and as i thought, the frame was completley snapped in half. Someone had obviously returned it coz it was broken and they had just stuck it back on the shelf.

We took it back on boxing day, the queues were crazy and were told, not in stock in any stores near here, try again in a week and were given a gift card.

A week later and still none in stock, as it was my little boys first christmas i was so annoyed as he still had no pressent.

I decided to write them a nasty email - just to make me feel better, but to my suprise they replied and with their apology sent a £10 gift voucher.
  • Oh forgot to say- its his b.day now and ive just bought a few things in the sale, which also looked like they had already been opened. So i made the assistant get everything out of the box and check it all for me. Massive queue and a red assistant - but it was nice to get my own back for once! he he
