oh i forgot to say about pressie buying. i make a list for the year and birthday. mothers day etc then buy pressies like the boots td things or when they are reduced.

i keep them in the loft on a book shelf with a stash of large gift bags from the £1 shop (3 for £1) .

my cards are also in the loft and when its someone bday or party i just go into loft grab card, gift bag and appropriate pressie out of stash !!

i did this all last year and it worked marvellously, no hassle when its someones party just grab pressie, so no getting hassled shopping for something and paying too much money for it!

I have a big cupboard on the landing and have a box in there will all the gifts ive bought for people.. and with wrapping paper gift bags etc - its all just thrown in.. no list or labels etc. Then again im lucky that i only have a tiny family and erm.. about 2 friends? So i havent got to remember whats for who etc....

Have never had a gift box before i found the idea on here in about september.. but its a great idea as at the moment its brimming with stuff.. including things for my brothers 14th birthday which isnt till July!! :rotfl: Its an FCUK smelly set... i got it 1/2 price in the boots sale... which means if im a bit better off nearer the time i can afford to buy him something else to go with it which i couldnt have probably be able to do if id paid full price..... if not... hes still got a fantastic gift but its only cost me 1/2 the price! :) So i love having a gift box!

If I've bought late Dec/early Jan I put them in the loft with the tree and other decs when they all go up there. I need to start making lists though cos I have forgotten about stuff before now.
Other than that I was using the wardrobe. A warning to all others doing the same if they've got young kids. Yesterday my 2 were being Lucy and Edmund, finding Christmas pressies early is definately Narnia to them.
  • You could try Ebay for the books you have finished with, or how about asking your friends what they read and having an evening of swapping books? Could be fun. Don't take them to a car boot, no one wants to pay above 30p even if they are immaculate.

My neighbour leaves a box of books outside her house in the summer with an honesty box for the money. She charges £1 - £1.50 per book and it seems to work!

had a start at sorting out over the weekend, although life kept getting in the way. have sorted four plastic boxes out that will stack on top of the wardrobe. one each for mens, womens, girls and boys pressies. just got to keep sorting them out in to relevant boxes now. anyone any tips on how to store rolls of wrapping paper, i've stood them in wardrobe but they keep getting knocked about, and i can't think where else to put them. i also found a pretty box which is quite deep, and i've put all birthday cards and special (i.e. family) xmas cards in it so they are all toghether and i can just go and look for a card in there when i want one, instead of them being in a drawer under the tea towels, lol.
  • thanks, this thread is just what i was looking for as i have got some bargains in the sales that i need to organise for storage. my main problem though is storage of rolls of wrapping paper they are stood in an old linin basket at the moment i use for keeping loo rolls in usually, but i wish they did something like a bag you could store them in so they were more protected.
