I write a list of everyone I have to buy for during the year, then when I see things that are reduced I buy them .They are all stored under the bed,I gift wrap every thing so they are ready to hand out or post. Then about June I start on christmas gifts.0

How I do mine is to write everyones name in a list in the front of my diary (in birthday date order) and then jot down next to each one as and when I pick things up, putting all the gifts in a big gift box.
Do a similar list mid year for xmas too so know who is getting what!0 -
thanks, all the replies much appreciated, i have most stuff for b'days and next xmas to organise, so i'll have to get sorted. i like the idea of wrapping as you go, i always end up wrapping night before, but if they are done and labelled as i go, that'll save a lot of hassle.0

All of my purchases get bunged in the cupboard any old how. However, I do have a list of people & pressies on my computer. Whenever I buy something for someone I make a note against their name of what the item is, how much it cost, and how much its worth.
That way if I change my mind later on its a simple case of cut and paste...rather than upwrap and rewrap.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

If the books are good condition then that is the best place to donate to the library. They are underfunded.
Also if you are bored or DVD's or Cd's and they are less then a 2 years old then most will accept them.
Mind you I love to go back in at a later date and have a look and see how many times it has been borrowed. Gives me a warm feeling inside. Sad I know.
In general for the Gift cupboard I write a list of events coming up. Brithdays, Valentines days, Wedding Anniversaries, Mothers day and fathers day. And when out and about doing my shopping or bargain hunting if I spy a present I buy it and then mark it down in my little book and how much I paid. So I can keep a running total of how much I have spent this year on presents.

if ever you are fortunate enough to discover a shop that still uses brown paper bags (the handled variety) as their carriers, then save them...they look great with a sprig of holly/tinsel or similar as a gift bagknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

i have loads of paper bags, i always keep them on hand for ripening tomatoes, but i love this idea, sort of understated but classy.0 -

Even better if you can find a a shop that uses paper bags with patterns on. I have used them to wrap arkward presents in the past.
I bet my mum has a stash will have to raid her house later.

Take the kids old books to ELC. For every 5 you trade in you will get 50% of book purchases until 31st Jan, great for presents for upcoming birthdays, especially if the books are already reduced in the sales.

I keep a list of all my 'present bargains' on the inside of the wardrobe door where I keep them. I also have a list of all birthdays printed and stuck to the door so that if I have a particular gift for a certain person I don't have a dizzy moment and send it to some one else, if you are hitting the sales take a copy of this list with you. Also when you have bought a present for a particular person write it in your diary next to thier name on thier birthday as a reminder to yourself.0 -
hi
don't give the books away. in august i started selling my old books and games on amazon on the advice i got here from apprentice tycoon. in one of her threads she explains how to it and which ones sell better than others.
me and ds2 set up an account with them and started selling them, we even bought old libary books at 25p each and sold them for quite a lot of money. we sold from august till november and it paid for all of spending money for our holiday abroad !!!
