The UK’s leading online memorial website is supporting a call for people to download a single that has been recorded in memory of a fallen hero.
Sergeant Major Michael Williams died in a gunfight with the Taliban in Afghanistan in June this year.
Dozens of memories have been added to the online tribute set up by Lasting Tribute to honour Michael
As his family and friends face their first Christmas and New Year without him they want to honour his memory by raising as much money as they can for the Help for Heroes charity.
Family friend Peter Edwards has recorded a song called If Every Day Could Be Like Christmas at studios in Sergeant Major Williams' home town of Caerphilly. Every time the song is downloaded, the 75p cost will go to the charity.
Mr Edwards said: “We really do need as many people as possible to download a copy of this track, where 100 per cent of funds received will go to the Help for Heroes charity.”
The single even has the backing of the Rt Hon Rhodri Morgan AM, First Minister for Wales, who commented: “It is good to see that something positive has come from the tragic death of Michael Williams.
“I believe this will help Michael's family and friends to come to terms with his death and raise money for such a worthy cause.”
