Marks and Spencer Online Delivery - Packaging

My online order from the last 20% day arrived today - slightly later than promised but given other people's experiences I suppose I should be grateful. My rant though relates to the packaging. I was surprised at how small the box was (shoe box size) given the articles I'd ordered.
One of the items was a cardigan which I would have expected to be folded flat and packaged accordingly, so I expected that the cardigan was missing/or to follow but no it was inside the box.
I can honestly say I have never seen anything quite like it - it had been placed in a clear plastic bag and then rolled up lengthways then folded in half. The packer had then had a frenzy with sellotape wrapping it round and round the little sausage shaped parcel. I actually wasn't sure if I even wanted to open it knowing it would be crushed beyond belief. It took some careful snipping with scissors to get through the sellotape before one very sorry cardigan emerged. It looks like crinkle fabric, the stuff you wash and drip dry. I've hung it in the shower room (where my OH has just had a shower) to see if the steam will help it in any way. If not it's going back.
I can only imagine there was absolute determination on the part of the packer to fit everything in this particular box by whatever means were needed but I'm horrified that M&S think this is acceptable. Any other experiences out there or is this just a case of a packer with an issue!

I ordered a dress and mine was wrapped the same - but no box just a plastic bag. Hardly suitable for a party frock!0
