Just open Internet Explorer.....
Then go to a page you want as your Home Page i.e https://www.google.co.uk
then click on Tools, Internet Options, General Tabe, Use Current, OK0 -
Sounds like a hijacker program.
When you say that IE doesn't work, what do you mean by that?
Do you just mean that your homepage has changed? Or do you mean that when the https://www.mstor.sun.com/mss page comes up, you can't navigate away from it?
At best, it sounds like a simple homepage hijack. At worst, it sounds like adware. Both of these can be fixed if you use a combination of SpyBot, Ad-Aware and Microsoft Anti-Spyware Beta 2 (all of which are free).0 -
Sounds like a Browser HiJack to me. Can you change your home page or does it revert back to the weird URL?
There was a thread on this a few days ago which will be your best place to start if it is a Browser HiJack. The specific thread is: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=133198&highlight=hijack0 -
there is a complete "sticky" on how to remove this sort of stuff here, step by step instructions

thanks for the suggestions:
i amnaged to download the various software programmes, however i was unable to accees the software from the microsoft site, as it says my version of windows is invalid (it's not, so i am presuming this is because im not accessing the site through IE... because of my initial problem.
i then attempted to start in safe mode, but the pc seems to stick (i have pressed f8 and selected safe mode.)
despite running the various programmes (not in safe mode) i still have my problem with IE0 -
Make sure you have an Admin Account and not a Limited one.
Also Open IE then click on Tools, Manage Add Ons, Drop down, Add Ons that have been used by Internet Explorer, And scroll down and make sure Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool is Enabled, OK
Now Get Microsoft Antispyware Frome Here http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx This doesnt need safe mode but turn restore off scan then turn back on.
Are you using XP?0 -
thanks for the suggestions
i am using xp professional edition
did as you suggested and looked for the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool in IE...couldn't find it in either "files currently loaded in IE" or those that have been used by IE
still struggling0
