you can normally get it done on your car insurance, then you only pay the excess - ok if you've got protected NCB i suppose. filling and repair only works for chips rather than cracks.if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.0

cheers.
just spoke £75 excess but at least its better than having to pay full wack! quite a big crack!
they also come to my house which is good and said within 24hrs! all sorted! at least it doesn't affect my no claims as i thought it would£2008 for 2008 club No. 286

windscreen repair is one of the best parts of car insurance, they are really expensive (can be anyway - heated, radio attenna, tints etc) and basically everyone gets to buy them for the price of their excess. rare bargain in my opinion.if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.0

I had the same recently, I opted for the insurance route as it was only £50 for a new windscreen. The insurance company also said they'd repair it for free - this is usually about £25 i think, but probably depends on the size of the crack as to if it can be repaired. Again they came to me and it was hassle free and does not affect my insurance - so they said!0

Don't know what the DIY kits are like but there are a few different types advertised on ebay.0

The service offered by Auto Windscreens, who our insurance company use, is really good, I had two repaired last year and you couldn't see where the damage had been at all. If you leave a small crack or chip it quickly spreads across the screen and a full replacement is then required which can be an expensive thing to do.0

Windsreen excess is usually less than your normal excess and a claim doesn't affect your NCB (not sure about repeat windscreen claims though). My insurance claim was done through Autoglass and they were really good - would come to home or work to fix it. Just had to pay my excess to them and show them my insurance certificate.0
