I found this report
http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,1910077,00.asp
explaining that symantec embed a 'root-kit' within ,at least, norton system works to prevent 'users accidently deleting files'.
sounds like it wouldn't take too much of an extrapolation to guess this is why all of Norton products are that hard to remove .

I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

thats exactly what I was thinking, expecially with the fact that both sony and norton have uninstallation programs to remove all traces of the software, and with norton its almost immpossible to remove completely without it.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals.
