Change from BT Business line to BT residential??

Options
There appear to be far better deals from BT for residential customers (e.g. Unlimited Anytime) than for Business customers. My question/s: Is it possible to transfer a BT Business line over to a Residential line? Is there a limit on the number of residential lines a house can have?

My wife is sole proprietor of an Interior Design service based from home with a single business phone line but she does not need any of the benefits of a business line and would appreciate lower call charges to landlines and mobiles offered to residential customers. Is this possible?

Any guidance much appreciated.

Yeah its possable. You would need to be out of contract for the business line (business feature lines can be up to 5 years im afraid), and you would have to explain the line was no longer required for business purposes. This would also mean the bill would have to be in your wife (or your own) name, NOT the business name, which has tax implications and could be a real problem if the company is Ltd.
There are other ways of cutting costs. If your in contact with BT, you can still use CPS to get calls at less than half the price whilst still keeping BTs line and customer service (God knows why people think thats a good thing!) if you want.
There are alot of con artist telephone companies out there, but some excellent ones as well, i have used some vary good ones before.

Their is nothing to stop her leaving the line as it is and getting cheaper geographical and mobile calls via www.18185.co.uk
  • Did you even manage to sort this out? I really want to swap to residential and was told I couldnt just do it as they are separate companies. I would have to cancel the business line to swap over and order a new residential line.

Clearly as this is BT it would be a complete disaster and I'd lose the number I've had for 20 years. This cannot happen.

    Thanks
