Hi all
Just bought a house that needs alot of work. Had a couple of quotes for two pieces of work and wondered if any one can shed any light as to whether these are reasonable. I live in a typical 3 bed semi in Mansfield.
1. Full rewire including new fuse box and alarm and the usual plugs sockets as standard - sorry I'm a lamen. Quoted between £2.7k and 3k. The electrics are ancient - fuse box say 1937 on it!
2. Removal of old boiler. New backsi combi boiler putting in loft. 8 new radiators and associated pipework to be put around the house. Old water tank removed. Also quoted for work to have an 'elevated platform' in loft as these are new plumbing regulations when boiler is to be serviced. Quoted £3750 including labour and all the parts. I think this is on the tad high side and was expecting a quote of between £3k - £3.5k. Am I being unreasonable?

And also for central heating - Vaillant combi boiler, standard radiators (7), cooper pipes - £4700 all materials (pipes boiler and radiators) included.
All in London. I hope it gives any indications.

hello thanks for quick replies - just spoken to different plumber who estimated works would be between 2700 and 3200 pounds for plumbing which seems a bit more reasonable. Hes coming out to cost up the house on tuesday. Hard work this shopping around when you havent got a clue!0
