Balance Transfer queries (clueless)

in Credit cards
Hi, I'm pretty clueless with these types of things and can't find the answers elsewhere so hopefully one of you kind folk might be able to help me?
I have 2 credit cards (First Direct VISA (3 years) & Barclaycard VISA (1 month)
I owe money on the FDV but am in credit on the BCV (thanks to betting wins)
I can't use the BCV to pay off the FDV as FD won't allow it ...... so could I do a balance transfer to the BCV?
But then does the FDV stay active (as I still want to use it) and I have some monthly payments that always go on to that, also would there be any costs involved.
Sorry if I'm making this complex and thanks for any help you can give.

The FDV would stay active as all they would see is a payment being made to your account. Your lender will tell if what fees, if any you will get by taking up a balance transfer. Good luck.Got Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!
